Upcycle Your Old Artificial Christmas Trees

festive interior with comfortable

Great, it is time to buy a new 6-foot artificial Christmas tree, but what should you do with the old one. You do not want to throw it into the trash ending up in a landfill. You can always upcycle it into some modern décor to place outside.

Create Many Reusable Trees for Decorating

Depending on your tree, especially those with hooked branches, it simplifies reusing the fake tree. As a result, start by unhooking the branches, and you will need about six of them. Then place two of them together and put the hooks at the bottom.

You can do this using florist wire cut into eight-inch lengths, wiring the two branches together. Ensure to twist and wrap the wire around both branches. Now, it is time to stand up your tree. You can use canvas bags to place your tree in.

Keeping your tree standing up straight may be difficult. To keep it secure, you can add dirt to prevent it from blowing in the wind. On the other hand, you may have some terracotta pots standing around.

Now is an excellent time to get out your paint craft set and spruce up those pots. Now, use landscape rocks to place the trees you made with the above technique. The stones will pack in tightly to make your new trees sturdy.

You could use some old plants lying around. Once you have the branches standing, it will look misshaped as your longer branches are now at the top with shorter ones at the bottom where the hooks are now in the pot.

You can pull your bottom branches out as far as possible, then twist the top branch around the center, pointing them inwards to give it a coned shape. After a few minutes of shaping, your tree will look great.

Reveal Your Upcycled Artificial Christmas Trees

Now, you can place your trees outside at the bottom of a patio, on a deck, or inside the home to make it look like miniature pine trees standing in the house. Hence, you can make a few upcycled trees to spread throughout the yard without them ending up as waste.

On the other hand, you can take your fake tree apart to reuse the greenery to make a wreath, artificial Christmas arch, or new tree decorations. Take the branches to make napkin rings or make small pine tree hanging ornaments for your following festivity.

You can find some great décor ideas to make that old faux tree look great. The important thing is that your tree does not go to waste. If your tree is in reasonable shape you can always donate it to charity or advertise it for free online for someone to pick up at your home.
